srs and abs dummy lights stay on

ok. now that i am back in the benz family i am having the usual old benz questions regarding the 91 350sdl.

something is draining the battery. it kills the battery so much that i need a jump everytime it happens. it is intermittent. typical scenario- after a short trip to the store, the battery is so weak, it won't start.

these are the clues. sometimes, after starting and running the car, the 'srs' and the 'abs' dummy lights stay on.

question. if i took out the fuses for these two things, will the car still work? the way i drive, it might be ok if it saves me a trip to the dealer.

any help is appreciated.

where are the fuses for these anyway?

Thumbs up

SRS light is a system fault somewhere, which is odd. I don't see many problems with the system.

ABS is usually that OVP relay against the firewall next to the Klima. It's a small 10A fuse in there.

Fuse panel is under the hood, driver side. Right beside brake booster.

SRS & ASb lights on

I know this is an old post, but I would be interested to know what was causing your problem. I am having identical symptoms in my '93 300D. SRS & ABS lights on, battery being drained. Having to jump the car. Also, I am noticing hot air blowing from side vents with cold air from middle vents when AC is on.

Thanks,

Curt

My '91 wore out the alternator brushes and didn't charge, as I drove that night the first indication I had that the battery was going dead was the ABS and SRS lignts coming on.

This was a snowstorm at night in my gas 4matic, with all window heaters, lights, blowers, etc. running it didn't last long before the engine died.

Check the alternator, particularly the brushes if the alternator light isn't coming on.
