I replaced it.
The difference is, that the engine has carriers bolted to the block which sit on the mounts while the tranny sits itself on that mount. No additional part between tranny and tranny mount.
I'm going to do the 'sandbag test' tomorrow, then I'll take the tranny mount off again and start the engine with the tranny sitting on a jack, disconnected from the body. Let's see what happens...

Didn't do anything anymore. Next I will take a close look at the front suspension. I have a knocking sound driving over traintracks for example. Maybe some normal engine vibrations cause that exact same part to vibrate which knocks when you go over the traintracks. Straws, but who knows...

To all 617 owners with strange vibrations: Check your transmission to engine bolts for tightness. One was completely missing on my car, so I put a new one in. Guess what: The vibrations are gone!
This reminds me to a saying: Don't overlook the obvious!

Was the problem ever solved?

I have strange vibration/buzzing sound that comes from the center-right side of the car. Does it a certain RPM"s whether driving, in Park or in Neutral. Almost sounds like an outboard motor whine.

I replaced motor mounts, trans mount and the exhaust manifold gasket. No dice.

When it was up in the air, the guy working on my car pulled down on the transmission while I had the motor at the correct revs to make the noise. It became noticeably quieter, so I figured it was the trans mount. Not the case.

I'm done dealing with this until next spring, but was wondering where the issue was "at". I don't think it's an internal trans issue, maybe where the motor and trans mount up????
