well

that is too high. but i am not sure that a backwards stat would be so consistant. if you are not sure of the orientation of the stat, by all means check it. it wont work correctly backwards. as how i know.

[QUOTE=boneheaddoctor]I would get a second O ring..there is a short tube that holds the O ring between the intake and tubo...it has two O rings not just one....but likely the old one will be fine. the manifold gasket kit only contains ONE Oring...

Im planning to replace manifold gasket in my car since its been leaking for a while. Sure enough the kit only contains 1 o-ring. Are the o-rings the same in size and where does the second one go?

you will see a short tube that goes between the turbo and the intake when you seperate them, its hidden on the car.....it has an O-Ring on each end..one seals inside the trubo housing the other seals inside the intake manifold...one is a little larger than the other...it will be very evident once you pull it appart where it goes...

How do you do this burping thing? You don't have to pick the car up and carry it around on your shoulder I hope.

Oh...that makes it easier unless you are a "Girlyman" (in my best Arnold imitation)

actually..its easiest with the nose of the car uphill from the back end...backfill the upperhose from the radiator end of it...fill up the reserve tak till it starts to come out of the upper radiator then put the hose back on and tighten the clamp...run the engine with the heat on and top off the reserve tank if and when it drops in level.

Off subject again, just be glad you don't have a Ford escort. I changed the stat in my wife's friend's car last weekend and the backs of my hands are still all cut up from sheet-metal. This thing (2003 Escort) is unbelievable. The stat housing is some kind of hard plastic, held together with small screws. Removing these screws requires a T-20 driver in a space about 2-inches deep. Anyway, after two trips to the home depot for tools and two trips to the parts store for the correct stat, I finally got this done. About 2 hours for a 15 minute job. What a PITA, makes me glad to work on a Benz. Rant over.
