What happens after six months? Does the oil somehow deteriorate while sitting in the crankcase?

MB claims once a year on the new cars. My friend changed the oil on the S600 about a year ago. Since it doesn't get driven much they change it once a year. They used 0w-40, he says it still looks brand new.

Good question, maybe they just wanted to sell more oil. I guess it could be a concern of condensation in the crankcase.

Every time you start it, the condensation is boiled off. Must be some by-product.

You might get some water soluable impurities in the oil that are not oil soluable. That is the only thing I can think of. I bought two containers of Mobil 1 truck and suv at the new super wally in marietta, ga. I went to a couple of wal-marts and couldn't find any 5-30 for the lesabre. I was almost tempted to buy the wal-mart synthetic. Anyone know what class of synthetic the wally mart store brand is?

That doesn't happen when you start it...it has to be run a full operating tempratures long enough to cook it off. And no......short trips are not enough to do it.

Lol life is safe as long as you don't talk politics. What is this like a family gathering? Family of diesel heads. I must have soot for brains.
