Is nobody allowed to express an opinion contrary to yours? You reacted, and are still reacting as if this is some form of personal attack upon you. Dana and I do not agree upon many topics, but that does not cause me to launch a verbal attack upon him, even when I have solid evidence he is wrong on a point. Do some heavy research on Dana, more than a few have tried to silence or shut him down, and/or challenge every aspect of what he does, at times in court. He has earned the title of expert in his fields, firefighter and alternative fuels. My best advice: Back off, chill out, and apologize. |

Infopop seems like a nice place
Austin85 , you are seriously delusional. They were much nicer to you than you were to them or I would have been to you. What were you thinking???? Here is my 2cents on the fiasco .. .
From your post I expected you to have a dialogue that deteriorated into them calling you names. But instead, you name called after the first reply and it was a polite and accurate reply , i might add. Normally I would not care what you do except I have enjoyed and believed your posts here and like how you are not afraid to experiment with your car. However, this post is so unbelievable and misleading that I just had to reply as I do not think enough people have yet. FWIW , I can honestly say I have never seen worse behavior as you exhibited on infopop on any forum or mailing list I have been on except from Trolls. Not only were you out of line over there but you came over here and mis quoted at least one of them and tried to get people to confirm that you were not out of line (or something). I hope you can realize you were wrong and also I hope you keep posting your results with your WVO experiments. |

My two cents worth
The problem with forums are the unknown facts about the participating users. Online , the zebra can claim to be a lion. The child can claim he has vast first hand knowledge, when in truth, he may be passing on information he gained only by reading. Maybe the poster formed his opinion based on the guesswork of someone else who claimed to know more than he actually did. That's the major problem with hearsay.
I’ve been lurking on several boards concerned with biodiesel manufacture and SVO/WVO usage for about a year and a half now. Lots of good information to be had by simply searching their archives. Lots of bad information too. Damn few of those people have any schooling in chemistry, physics, or lab technique. Some of the posts are given "by guess and by golly". The same is true of this board but to a much lesser extent. What I see here is a number of knowledgeable people who are often kind hearted enough to waste their time explaining an old topic to someone too lazy to search. Or correcting someone who doesn’t quite understand something. One tip off can be the assessment of their posts. Do they speak the King’s English? Do they have first hand knowledge and do they tell you what they know or do they just tell you what they think? Some of those people couldn’t be trusted to stir mud with a stick but they are more than willing to get up your nose if they disagree with you. No one of us is clairvoyant or magic, no matter what they claim. And genius isn’t necessary to answer a question correctly. As members we have some responsibilities to (wait, don’t I mean “too”). DON’T knowingly pass on bad information. When you find that you have, be honest and retract it, or at least clarify your position based on empirical evidence, so that others are not confused or mislead. DON’T get involved in any personal attacks. It’s a complete waste of time and energy. And DON’T tease a moron. W.C. Fields once said, “Never wise up a chump”. The truth is; you can’t wise up a chump. Sidebar: I am not calling anyone on either board involved here a chump. Isn’t it best to silently agree to disagree? You can lead them to water, eh? There are many things that I do that work for me, but I shouldn’t recommend that other people do those things. One of our forum members was concerned that I would end up in a burn ward because I heat 40 gallons of WVO to 230F when I dewater it. He had no idea that, with my specific background and the rig I use, it is reasonably safe. I should have remembered the time I told some Porsche owners how I was making my high octane gasoline. They nodded and seemed to have no questions as I drew out my heating vessel, reflux condenser, and 20 plate cracking tower. They didn’t have the foggiest notion about the function of the reflux condenser and their hot water heater lit off the free vapors from 40 gallons of gasoline. They are lucky they lived and just lost a garage and it’s contents.

I'm OK with that...I'm sure he's an OK guy, and is trying to help others. I just don't get it how he responds that way....? Really not taking it personally. Thanks for your HO. AA
