Where did the "O" ring go?
On a couple of posts lately, I have lamented my awful oil leak which developed so suddenly. My drive way is a mess, my garage is a mess, even the local street shows my oil weary path! Well, in checking, it was obviously the turbo oil return. Bajaman came over from Lafayette this AM to help me with this repair. Wow, it was so difficult for him to get it apart - for a while I thought it never would come apart. Then, all of a sudden like "Bingo" and he pulls the tube and what was remaining of the grommet out. But there was no lower "O" ring. Does anyone know or had experience where the "O" ring breaks and falls into the oil pan. It must have been on the car when I bought it in April. I have put about 7000 miles on it and only recently did it develope that awful oil leak. Bajaman pressured the crankcase this morning when the car was running by feeding the crankcase vent, (PCVent) into the air cleaner oil return, and that additional pressure just had that oil flying out of the grommet. We also replaced the upper "O" ring in the tube, and we pulled the aircleaner oil return tube and put a new "O" ring on it. Then we pulled the VC and adjusted the valves. The car has been running and starting so well, that I expected all the valves to be in perfect adjustment, but all were very tight. Now I have the rest of the Christmas break to redo upper arms and bushings. If the warm weather holds, I will jump on that Monday. It is not bad working in an unheated garage with the temperature in the 40's. Have a Merry Christmas, Everyone!
