Antennas

Ok. So I bought my brother's '84 a few weeks ago and now that I've got it running, I can turn my attention to other things, like the antenna one of his kids broke off. I look on fastlane and to my dismay I've found several different kinds. I'll post a link to it if anyone can help me figure out which one to use. Also, does anyone have any tips on replacing it? Thanks alot.

Ditto. I know that I'm going to need a new mast as well, for my yet to be seen '84 SD in KS. I think Fastlane has three or four listed for that year...

My 84 300D has the toothed kind. I don't know about the SD though.

If it's the original antenna assemble use this one:
http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/quote.jsp?clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&cookieid=1P1068UTF1P21F7FVE&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&partner=mercedesshop&year=1984&product=Z4010-18155&application=000026988

It's the longer toothed kind. The other antennas are for aftermarket brands.

It's super easy to replace:

Thanks for the link on the DIY. Some nice person here sent me a new mast, but that info was lost in the forum crash, so I don't even know who it was.
But I am appreciative.

Does that "DIY" for the W123 basically the same for the W126? I am planning on soon replacing the one on my W126 (as well as a NEW antenna seal), but unsure of how to do this. My car already had a new antenna with it, but it still needs to be installed. I thought it would be good to replace it while I was replacing that busted seal.

Thanks again.

It should work for the W126 as well.

Thanks! I will give it a whirl. Hopefully my motor is not bad. I have not even checked it yet. The new antenna was already in the car.
