Well back on the saddle with a different E300 a 97 silver one this time. As the weather cooled down we found that we needed to change the plugs and the intake and all that good stuff which I have done close to twenty times now. Everything went smooth as could be changed the plugs cleaned it up, went inside turned the key glow plug light went out, and boom the car started no problem. Glow Plug issue fixed just like before , now my problem.

The current driver of the car then drove the car out of the parking lot and the car died on him 2500 ft away. The car would not restart and it acted as if it was not getting fuel. Car brought back to the garage.

Car would not start but the glow plugs and relays are working, drained the tank thinking it was old fuel because we did not get to it right away and it had been cold, switched fuel filters, added clean fuel and it would not start. After prolonged cranking the engine finally turned over and the car ran great, the driver took it home drove it around and it ran perfect.

Then yesterday the car did the same exact thing in the middle of driving it just stopped and acted as if it could not get fuel again.

I am wondering what the possible sources of the problem could be, or if anyone else has had this problem. I almost feel like it has to be computer or relay related because there is not a whole lot to the delivery system.

Any ideas would be helpful, so far you guys have saved us a ton of money on these things and a solution for every problem.

Did you also check the prefilter? More likely the fuel shutoff valve is acting up. First I'd check and clean the electrical input to it.

Fuel shutoff valve is located on upper front of injection pump, held on by two torx fastenters. I would first check for air infusion into clear fuel lines, they are prone to leak and maybe jiggled loose in process of changing glowplugs. Fuel lines (six, I think) have an O-ring on each end that have a limited lifespan, maybe it was their time. While you are in there, replace the O-rings in the prefilter and behind the shutoff valve-other possible entries for air.
