And what is this "snow" you speak of......
Snow? Well, remember at Christmas that one year, when you picked up that glass ball thing and shook it and all that white stuff went flying around? We call that snow.

And don't let anyone tell you anything stupid about how cold it is up here. Take the truth from our parish priest who is from Nigeria. He went back home and was describing to his friends how cold Canada really is:

Priest:"You know how cold it is when you open the freezer, and you put your hand inside against the cold wall?"

Friend: "You are kidding. It cannot be that cold."

Priest:" You are absolutely right. It is MUCH colder than that."

Actually, starter is probably fine. As Palangi said, it probably has timing issues from the aftermath of the head replacement. You might can pick it up cheaply and start to tinker. It will never be a show car, but you can get it looking good enough with a non-expensive paint job if you so desire.
Well, the only problem is convincing the wife that picking it up is a good idea after the 93 Grand Cherokee, 2003 Dodge Caravan, and 1980 300SD.

Well, I definitely can't help you there! Heck, I can't help myself there! I went and looked at a little 240D Saturday, and when I told the wife where I had been, I got that 'look' that so many of us are familiar with..... (that's the one)
How do you have time to work on MB's with a Grand Cherokee? Doesn't all your spare time go into that one?

Nope...that's what summer is for.

Basically Mercedes took a blower motor and then built a car around it. It is seriously hard to get at.

Haven't looked in one yet, so excuse my reply....

But couldn't you just rig a switch for the blower, and route the coolant directly through the cabin, like I did on my 1980 300SD?
