Curious...Is anyone running w/operable EGR on 617?

Or...like me, is everyone doing "off road testing." I wondered who has their EGR running and if they are having problems OR not! Consider this an informal survey. Reasons for running operable EGR welcome!

I thought mine was running fine with the EGR but it turns out one of the rubber fittings at the thermo-vac switch on the t-stat housing was torn so there's no telling how long its been disabled. I was planning on dealing with it later. I'm going to eventually do away with all of the extra vac lines and such so unless its stuck open I guess its inoperable right now. Runs great.

There's gotta be someone out there with an operable EGR. So how's it running?

Maybe I should mention that on my '85 it was working. When idling, if I unplugged the line to the EGR, I noticed the idle would raise a small amount, barely noticable. Other than that she ran great. On that one I really think it worked. The strangest thing, though, is that when I unplugged it, my 0-60 times went from about 18 seconds up to around 22. I tested this multiple times and found it to be consistant. I started a thread about this but no one could come up with an answer. It was suggested that I must have done something else while I was under there but I assure you, all I did was put a vac cap on that line. I plugged and unplugged it at least five times and did as many runs on the same stretch of road and my 0-60 time was consistantly 3-4 seconds worse. Since it ran faster with it hooked up I left it like it came. Maybe it had something to do with the '85's special emissions stuff.

Could perhaps be related to the tranny shifting differently...ie...leaking EGR stuff?

I'm not doing any off road tests. It's just that sometime about a year ago, it just fell off! All that's left are some odd looking plates where it should be.

Where do I put the EGR on this intake? I just can't seem to find where it goes?

Guess I have the "pre-egr" manifolds...

...something like that...

There is a window on the EGR. If you apply vacuum and release it you should see the pressure plate move up and down.
