Auxiliary Water Pump
Does my '87 190DT have one? If so, where? I have a toasted controller, would like to find the short/source.

Don't know the vehicle well enough, but, I share the pain.
My pump seized and it took out the CCU. I'd bet that you have the same problem. |

I expect that you will find it on the passenger side wheel well. When you find it, rig up some jumpers and an ammeter. Jump power to the aux pump through the seriesed ammeter. If it draws more than 1.3 Amps replace it. It will INDEED fry the CCU.
Good luck, |

Found it, right behind the cam cover on the firewall. I suspect you are right, I found the problem by installing a new controller and having it trip on/off, removed it and will re-install after I check the pump.
