Space to work on a car

I think I finally have decided to fix my rear main seal and reseal the engine and maybe go through the trans while it is out. I have nowhere to do the job, though. Anyone else in the same prediciment and how did you find a spot? Are there places around that rent stalls or even a spot outside? I can probably do it outside although we still have a little winter left and the spring rains will be here soon (Columbus OH). I was teetering on whether to sell my 84 300D and get a 300SD or fix up mine including a paint job. Just wondering on how you all do a big job like this with no space really to do it. Thanks, Eric.
