shell synthetic diff. fluid
anyone ever used it? i can change my diff. fluid for free tomorrow at work, but im not sure if its good or not. its 80-140w

It will clean your diff out I know that. I changed mine with Valvoline SynPower when I first got the car then the axles both went and Red Line Shockproof was what was put back in. The shockproof may have been overkill.

Synthetic 85W-140 from any reputed manufacturer can't be bad at all, free is even better, you are indeed lucky.

I change the axles at 25K, first was done with syn to get it clean inside. Once the bolts are broken free and reinstalled with antiseize they won't cause the same problems again.

I think an 85W90 GL-5 is what is called for.

I used NAPA brand 85-90W gear oil. speced to my '85. Was only like $6.95 per bottle. And came in a spout bottle designed not to spill when loading into diff hole.
