I have a 1995 S-350 Turbodiesel (129,000 miles) that started a whistling noise near the turbo. Ended up being a stopped up intake caused by the EGR. I cleaned it out and tried to disconnect the EGR by plugging up the vacuum hose. When I did this the car did not have as much power and I figured somehow the computer was cutting boost or something. I also tried disconnecting the wire on the electric EGR valve switch and this did not work either. Is there any way to disconnect this valve, where soot will not re-circulate and stop up my intake again, without the engine loosing power? Thanks!
