Question Disabled EGR Valve.

I was changing the oil in the SD today and noticed the rubber hose that connects the vaccum line to the egr had a hole in it. I pulled it off and blew in it to see if I could find any other leaks....well the rubber connections at the valve hooked into the water jacket were shot too. So I removed the vaccum lines to the egr and plugged the vaccum manifold on the valve cover gasket with a handy golf T.

I had been thinking of removing the egr anyway but it seems it was already non functional assuming it is opened by vaccum under certain conditions. I also have fixed a couple of substantial vaccum leaks in the process.

Would there be any reason to completly remove the egr except for astetics?

Stephen
