mercedes repair disk/ compatible laptop
Just wondering what the minimum requirements to run the Mercedes repair CD-ROM would be, as there are so many cheap laptops around now. I would like to sometime get a "garage laptop" that I wouldn't mind getting grease on the keyboard and such.....
I know there are also those "tough books" out there that come in a magnesium case - a guy I talked to one time was taking a class on how to service them, and the instructor started off the class by throwing his tough book at the wall, and then picking it up and turning it on - without any ill effects. Sounds like a good garage machine.

I have a loptop but never take it witn me when Iwork on my car. I just print out specific topics thst I'm working on and use them.
If they don't get too dirty they may find themselves in a binder. Just an idea for you. Danny

I've used my laptop out in the garage. I just lay a sheet of paper on the keyboard and mouse pad so I don't muck it up. Since I also have a wireless router, I can also keep logged on to this site while I work on the car.

Toughbooks are nice for about $5K Since they are so durable, I have never seen a used one for sale. The best option might be a membrane keyboard protector for less than $15. (try Fentec for custom made)
