B2 piston bushing direction ?123

i`m changing out my b2 piston and want to make sure i`m doing this right. I got the old piston and bushing out looked more like a seal to me but what do i know . ok my question is witch direction does the new white bushing go? it is flat on one side. i`m guessing that the flat side goes in up against the trans where the seal or old bushing was also it does not fit tight in there is this ok or do i have the wrong bushing. i`ve done a search and can`t find any answers. the car is a 1983 300d turbo. thank`s Rick
