Good to hear from another double wagon owner...although I'm turning my '85 into a pick-up truck.
I respect the Mercedes' engineers decisions when they were considering the possibility of 7 to 8 passengers...but I never expect to carry that kind of load...and if I did, I probably would never get going fast enough to do much damage
Yes a friend is parting out an '83 300SD with ATE's and I got both with good rotors for $30...another $38 for rebuild kits, and I'll have rear brakes again. It's unfortunate that the TD rear calipers cost so much more then for the sedans.
I'll keep you informed on how it goes.
