$2.75 a gallon!!!!

$2.75 a Gallon!!!

Wow. last week it was 2.41 a gallon. I watched it raise to 2.62 the other day when I filled up. Then it rose 13 cents in one day.

Of course gas is still staying down at 1.95 a gallon. By the way this is in Portland. Apperently I shouldn't complain as we have the lowest "GAS" cost in the country right now. But I don't drive gas so that doesn't do me much good.

Does anyone have any idea why the rapid rate hike all of the sudden? Are there any plant closures that I am not aware of? Or are they just testing the market again to see what we can bare, and the Gas will follow?

I went to Missouri in January and noticed that diesel is cheaper than gas in St. Louis. That was always the way I remember it being, but here in Oregon it's more for some reason.

Anyone know why?

I've been paying about 2.50 for the past 3-4 months..... Gas is more than diesel around here currently....especially premium, which is about $2.79!

I must have totally missed out on the cheaper diesel in January, since it's been higher than RUG in St. Louis for most of the past six months.

Part of the problem is that the houses up north aren't heated with gasoline.

True statement there! I use corn, wood, and if I am gone for more than two days the cursed propane furnace kicks on. I hate that...

It is caused by greedy criminals who have a monopoly on the suppy and distribution.

Fuel should be regulated as a utility because in most areas it is as necessary as other utilities.

We can never depend on either party of our government to enforce monopoly regulations. Too many of them are in the pocket of the oil monopolies.

An uncle once told me to never vote for an incumbant because by the end of their first term, someone has them in their pocket.

At the time, I thought he was crazy but now I believe he was very wise.

My husband says the same thing.

I heard that a big part of the new higher diesel prices are new taxes that are aimed at the OTR 18 wheel trucks. THEY (I don't know who they is) say that the road damage we see on highways is mostly caused by the big rigs and now the big rigs get to pay for a bigger chunk of the repairs through the new taxes.
Problem is that cost is then passed on to you and me in the form of higher prices for the things that are carried in those rigs, which in this country is just about everything.
So we get to pay higher prices at the stores AND pay higher prices at the pump.
I'mNOT a capitalist.

Ginny in Denver
Oh, and many stations in our area (Denver) are getting rid of the premium tanks in order to put the new higher priced diesel in. Oh goodie.

mine is 2.49 a gallon but ive been watching it praying it doesnt go up. They ( the fuel companies) should have fuel for OTR trucks and then have fuel for privately owned diesel powered vehichles.. its only fair
