Wow those Honda's are pretty tough. If I send the SD to the junk yard I'll try that with a 617. I wonder how long one would run at 6k rpm?

if your ever going to send a 617 to the salavage yard after stripping everything out of the car you might need just make the engine run away.. its ten times more fun since you get to witness something that isnt supposed to happen .. but get some bullet proof glass incase a rod blows through the block

No the car will be going as is. I'll call the wrecker, and trash it before they get their.

I'd never blow a good one, mine isn't worthing saving or transplanting. Maybe I'll drain the oil and fill it with water like they did.

Trashing the civic was just wrong!

But it just shows how tough the Honda's really are.

Doing it to a 617 would be a crime.....but to a nearly doomed honda I suppose its "acceptable" as an experiment. That is truly amazing that it ran that long, and under that kind of stress/rpm/lack of lubrication. Jeeze.

They did a similar experiment on mythbusters about "what else will work in a pinch as a crankcase oil substitute" They were using some 5+ liter old Chevy V8 (from the late 70's, it was out of a caddilac) it ran beautifully before they began their torture, with some crud they mixed into the existing oil, it seized in less than 4 mins at full throttle...scary. Sounded horrible as it screeched and groaned to a halt too.....
