has anyone had any luck with replacing a commutator?
Mine is worn down to teh core, and I'm going to ask around at starter/alternator shops.
Looks fairly simple to replace if I can find one to fit onto an 8mm shaft.
Will update soon.

blower motor commutator 300TD 79

I decided that since there was a lot of meat on the commutator just north of where the brushes had been bearing and gouging, I put some wooden spacers (trimmed popsicle sticks) under the brush housings, swapped some of the shaft shims around to shift the rotor back a bit, and bang, I now have the brushes bearing on newish commutator surfaces.

Motor is a bit noisy for now but it's blowing up a storm. Will hopefully last the winter.

But I'm still going to be looking for Bosch motors with 8mm shafts to try swap out a commutator.

Any ideas whether any other German makes used the same motors? W123s are a little scarce in Vancouver junkyards.

Vancouver, BC or Vancouver, Wash?

I was in the yard in Wash. last wk or July or first wk of Aug, and there were 2 W123 then.

If you live in Washington, then it isn`t all that far to the Columbia PNP yard just across the river.
