water pump rtv question

instead of working on my 300sd today
i did a water pump on the dodge mini van.

the gasket was not fitted so i used some rtv
i slathered that stuff on and then put the gasket
on....

how long do you think it will take for the rtv to cure...?

i have not put water in or started it yet...

how much did you slather it? if you allowed beads to squeeze into the water system, i would recommend taking it off and getting any excess off. those blobs can cause problems by plugging things up and blocking flow.

if you didnt do that it should be completely cured by the next day after you put it on for sure.

gasket

the only reason to use rtv would be in place of a gasket. you don't need it. clean the engine surface, grease the gasket and torque the pump into place.
