When I get the engine bck together I am going to put another gage on to check it. My 79 240D has been in the family since new, and I do know for a fact that the oil gage never pegged out until it was at least 10 years old. Maybe the gage went out of calibration? It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has problems with that gage.
