You'd get the 3.0 from the '86 and '87 vehicles. The SDL and the 300D would be the models.

Wow that sounds pretty cool. Then you would have like a 3.2L 603!

Might be a nice blend of the high end power of the 3L and low end torque of the 3.5L.

personally i would stay with stock 3.0 components. tried, proven, available.

i did think about this myself, and it has attractive points, but i wouldnt in the end.

Lots of great information. I am going to begin searching for a good 300D, 300SDL (1986-1987) engine just in case. Thanks to all of you for your in put. It is a great help.

Why bother? You can worry about everything on these old cars. Change the oil, and drive it. If it blows it blows deal with it then.
