Bilsteins VS Sachs, Boge

Besides the price, are the Bilsteins better than the OEM shocks many parts places sell like sachs & boge??

Thumbs up

Apparently not, but I have had great luck with the Gabriels I have on mine... lifetime warranty no q's asked, easy to pick up, etc. I'm very pleased with them.

Boge were OEMs too.

Stick with what they specialize in

Just my $0.02 worth,
But manufacturers tend to be best at what they are most known for or essentially best at. Although brands name proliferate today like nobody's business and on parts not even made by them...surprised Nike still hasn't entered the shock business.

Bilsteins are high performance shock manufacturers, Boge are OE shock manufacturers, Sachs makes clutches better than all else, shocks are a secondary line of business.

Boges are great, were OE on MB, BMW and others, say 90% as good as Bilstein but at 50% the price. Bilsteins are the best, but you pay for that.

Other good brands include Koni and KYB gas-adjust, these tend to offer 90-95% the performance of Bilstein but again at a fraction of the cost.

I have run all these brands and others on many cars and racers and have found the following results (order of preference):

Bilsteins HD tops in performance and 2nd in longevity: Highest Cost
KYB Gas Very close second on performance and #1 in longevity: Best Value
Boge For standard ride quality, great longevity and good value
Koni, Great performance, costly and longevity suffers compared to others above
Gabriel good shocks but not the best for MB low cost

IMO
