Turbo idea's

Im doing 617 swap into 4spd 240d. I have a kkk charger on swap engine, turbo spools well and have minimal shaft play. I wanted to change it to something else while doing fuel increase. Anyone have any ideas on a fun turbo or anything to interject on repowering with different turbo set up??? thnx

i saw a guy

i saw a guy who used a tractor trailor turbo and he used his regular turbo
to spin it up....so he built special exhaust routing....from the boost of the first turbo to the intake of the second....I am no turbo whiz... although I have installed 2 on a saab...

A T3 Super60 should provide all the air you could need until you must have bigger injection pump plungers to get more power (Around the 180-190hp mark).

t3

well the t3 is a saab and volvo turbo that is easy to come by...

now the guy who used 2 turbos.... using the boost from the first to spin the second.... So he had cooler air coming off the second turbo since it was not spun by exhaust....and as you remember cooler is better....

In fact you may just try to find a way to cool the air because power increases with cool air...

I have also heard of people modifying turbos to be spun by belts.... like superchargers....

Saab and volvo huh? Any idea on what models? I am looking to drop a 617a into my 83 300d. Might as well upgrade on the turbo if I get it all from pull-a-part.

The Saabs and Volvo's won't be much (If any) improvement over the stock bolt-on T3 45 trim.

One turbo driving a second turbo outperforming a single turbo violates some law of physics.

The problem with that is that the second turbo with send already compressed and HOT air to the OEM turbo... LOTSA HEAT !

But I'd like to see it done just for kicks.

Any suggestions as to stock turbos? I have a pull-a-part down the street, turbos are $45 a pop. .
