Unhappy Cross-threads on hydraulic line

Hello,

Well now I've done it. I just rebuilt my SLS valve on my '81 300TDT. The rebuilding of the valve was pretty easy (I use to rebuild Detroit Allison automatic trannies). Getting the lines back on valve after rebuild is another story. I apparantly cross threaded the last hydraulic line I put on. Please tell me there is fix for this. Thinking about first chasing the threads. Anyone know the size? If the doesn't work, I'll be looking for a Time insert - if they make one for hydraulics. Any ideas? As always, any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Brad Uebelhor

For others reading this SLS means Self Leveling Suspension... which the wagon and one other model have... it runs off a pump built into the head of the engine in those models..
I suspect that thing works at something like 1800 psi... so fix must be legit..

Happen to have picture of problem area ?

I have been dealing with this sort of thing for many years...
What kind of tools do you have access to ?
Oxy-Acet ?

I can take a picture of the hole tomorrow, but I doubt it will show much. The threads don't look that bad. I have access to about anything I can get my hands on. When I rebuilt Allison automatic transmissions 15 years ago, we fixed hydraulic fitting threads with a Time insert if I remember right - using a heli-coil would let fluid past.

If the threads dont look all that bad I would just run a tap in to dress them up. Than when putting line back I would use lock tite. DONT think that would leak after the lock tite dries.
