How do you celebrate mileage marks???

Since we do own MB's we tend to rack up several hundred thousand miles and not even think about it. Maybe its the kid in me but I love seeing pics of a MB's speedometer with 200k+ Km's or miles on it and the needle well into the triple digit range. I'd like to see a Toyota with 300k km's on it doing 150...

I rolled over 250k at just over 100mph, maybe 110ish. If I ever hit 300k it will be at flat out top speed. Oldsouth is very good at this, so is John. Lots of their mileage marker photo's seem to be at Autobahn speeds.

These cars are built for the Autobahn then have their nuts cut off in this country...nice to let them out for a bit to celebrate turning over the odo.

i would think a toyota would probly be the first to make that milage out of any of the new cars. they are very dependable as long as you maintain them.

I never saw why you needed to be at triple digit speeds while taking a photo of your odometer rolling over. If the highway isn't empty, you'll be hitting 300K at 110mph, snapping a photo and hitting someone who accidently swerved into your lane. Who's looking stupid then? The guy who swerved, or the guy with the camera in his hand going at triple digit speed trying to record that moment?

I know I've taken photos of the speedometer while the car is in motion, but never at those high speeds.

This also brings me to something else. If MB didn't equip these autobahn cruisers with cupholders so you could CONCENTRATE on DRIVING at over 100mph+, then don't you think you should put the camera down too?

Hmm

They put them in the new cars which are far more capable of autobahn speeds than ours...

I think the Germans just find it funny when I slam on the brakes and the latte' held in between my legs ejects all over my pants burning my legs and gentle areas.

I've been racking up miles like crazy this summer and also like to commemorate my odo rolling events with pictures at high speeds. Come 250k I'll be topped out, thats for sure....I could hit it before the end of 2006 if I drive enough....we'll see. I've gone 8,400 miles since late February....so if I keep that rate up, I'll be at 250k in late november....

400000

Well. My 240D is at 377000 now so within a year or so I hope to be able to celebrate the 400000 mile mark. I likely wont be doing more than 65mph when it happens. Dont like the idea of the engine exploding in the process. But the idea of recording the event on video for posterity is rather a neat one so I think I'll have to do something about that for sure.

- Peter.

We rolled 200k in the wagon, and celebrated by an oil change, tune-up, and the A/C conversion to R134.

My old 400E rolled 200k at 149 mph (according to gps). When the wagon hits 250k, I think I will be going about 70. I cant afford a ticket...

How do you celebrate mileage marks if your mileage just reached 166,666?

Or when you reach that magic mileage number on a Friday the 13th?

Odometer milestones should be celebrated at 105 mph, camera in one hand, hot beverage in the lap, and on the cell phone yakking away on a busy congested freeway.

Insted of a hot beverage how about a nice cold beer? 105mph, talking on the phone, and taking a pic at the same time!

Hmm it never occured to me to speed while it rolls over

I have taken several 200K Mi and 300K Mi, pictures, always in town...( I drive service, mostly in town, and inbetween town) I will be up over 400K Mi on my SD this summer.... 300K in my Suburban, 200K in the Astro van, ... 500K in the "old" astro van, I don't know how I could photograph it over 110MPH with an 85MPH speedo... it does kinda make sense to give it an italian tune up at the rollover point, followed up with a nice fresh oil change and valve adjustment... test up the glow plugs and replace the prefilter and air filter as well...
Sounds good to me. this followed up with the tall glass of Gatorade, Lime flavored sounds good to me.
John
