Bad Injector Pump Causing Binding Linkage?

I posted recently here about my linkage binding up. I accelerate and the pedal does not decelerate with my punching it a few times. So toaday i am on a trip and it got real bad to the point i could not drive, 'i pulled into this service station that only repairs German cars(lucky he was there)-He took the linkage apart and came to the conclusion that the injector pump was binding it for some reason, He said it may need a new pump, he could not do anything as this was a quick stop for me, but he put a spring on the throttal to pull it back so i could drive, I got it home safely, I was wondering if anyone knows if this sounds right, can the pump cause this? Is this a big expensive job

I suppose the IP can cause the symptoms you describe. However, the situation would be a first, AFAIK. There is a very beefy spring that pulls back the rack to prevent just the thing you are describing. Maybe the spring is missing???
