Yet another A/C problem. Condenser fan??

So my a/c is not working right. It seemed to be blowing cooler air a few days ago but now it's not really getting cold at all. I can hear a click when I hit the a/c button so the compressor seems to be turning on. The switches are acting up though because sometimes the fan works and sometimes it doesn't. This is on a brand new blower motor btw. I'm wondering about the condenser fan though. Is it supposed to turn on as soon as the a/c is turned on? I checked it tonight just by turning the car on and then turning the a/c on. The condenser fan never turned on after a couple of minutes. Does it turn on by a certain temperature or should it cut on imediately? Thanks for the help.

IIRC the Fan will turn on if the Temp reaches really high (95c or something)
And if the AC is on, theres a switch that will cut the fan on if the pressure gets to a certain level in the AC system.

THeres a way to jump the cables to test it.

The switch for the aux fan is on the rec/dryer, and it is temp activated. The temp of the freon closes the switch as I understand it, which completes the circuit to the aux fan.
If not enough freon, for example, you can't get the reaction/heat for aux fan activation.
Of course, I could be incredibly wrong......

Talking

I stand corrected!
thanks for clearing that up Jimmy
I knew it operated something that had to do with the freon to kick the compressor on!!

i think i have some kind of problem involving my aux fan on my 82 SD. The one day i went to start the car and it was dead. not completely but did not have enough power to start.

i checked the amp draw on the battery. i believe it was .72amps.

i started pulling the stuff i've added to see if was somthing i added that caused the drain. it wasnt.

i started to pull fuses and test. when i pulled the fuse for the AUX FAN the power drain went back to normal ~.02a.

when i reset the fuse the power drain was .02a

I believe the aux fan to be the problem but its apparently intermitent....

any ideas?
