Back to the topic, what do you mean it expands? You put it on the rust and it grows upwards?

POR-15 user converts

I'd used POR for 10+ years, and had the usual typical results posted. It's very particular to preparation (the most important step in any paint job). About 8 months ago I stumbled upon another product called KBS Coatings @ http://www.kbs-coatings.com

These guys know their stuff unlike POR-15. Over the years I've contacted POR inc on problems & questions, and it seemed nobody there really knew the product. And you can call then on weekends, evenings etc. Needless to say I've tried the KBS and it worked great!! Even better than the POR-15 for adhesion and it seems as though it's not as sensitive to UV. Plus, they tell me they will have it in colors soon. Our plant in Defiance, OH is using the blue formula as a test on a cooling unit which always rusts (even with POR15), and after 6 months (since 4/1/06) it shows no sign of failure and looks great in blue. Plus the stuff is about 10% cheaper $$. So now there's a choice, but i'll keep you posted on how it holds up.

Just my 2 cents.

I've been using POR in my rusty motorcycle tanks for years. I clean off the flakey stuff first then treat the tank. Never had a problem with rust or leaky tanks after using it. I've got a bike now that I treated 15-20 years ago and its still fine.

Cheers,

Bill

After treating an area that will be covered up and not in direct sunlight, you should be okay, then? I'm thinking of using POR or one of these other products on rust spots that are beneath a piece of trim molding. I just want to keep the rust area from growing into the area beyond the trim.

Just curious... since I have one rust spot left in my car, that needs to be fixed.

On average, how much does a can of this stuff run for? Does it keep well in the can (reuseable)?
