Help! Turbo isn't quicking in on my Turbo Diesel

The turbo isn't quicking in on my 81 300SD Turbo Diesel, and it is moving slow. Can anybody please tell me how to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look up banjo bolts and how to clean them.

Is the power the same at low rpm's or is it only sluggish after about 2200 rpms, when the turbo's supposed to kick in?

You should probably post back with some more detailed info. on the exact nature of the problem.

no turbo

Its sluggish the whole time especially up hills. Its just acting pretty much like a regular diesel without the turbo. The turbo just won't kick in, not on the freeways, nowhere.

do the banjo bolt clean

also.. with the engine cool remove the ?U-tube.. feel into the intake of the turbo.. with the engine off. and try and spin it. does it spin freely?. now try and rock it around.. be gently.. if it moves off the x-axis then you have shaft play.. some is ok but alot is bad
