I copied the manuals from Skinnerbox before it went down.

I could copy it onto a CD and mail it out. Maybe we can get it going where one person gets it, copies it and sends it off to someone else. We'd have to get a mailing list going.

You would have to go here and download this program:
http://www.httrack.com/

Then you copy the file to your computer and use HTTRACK to open it.

The file is 812mb but I can compress it to fit on a CD.

SO what do you all think??

Danny

I have a copy of the manuals too, and a server to put them on, but I don't want MB coming after me...

Red face MB Coming After You?

MB does not sell the FSM for the W126 on any of their websites. They do offer to sell access to the online information for a monthly fee.Why is this the only option MB offers for W126 info? I can't know.

MB is strictly online access for the W126. I need to be able to have the info on hand while doing the work on the car. Online won't really work for me.

My method at the moment is to search through this forum for information and then to print out those threads that relate to the issue/solution.

Sharing is good. I'd like to have a FSM for my 460k mile '83 300SD. MB is not making it easy for the DIY W126 person. They probably hope we'll just give up.

If any one has the files still, I'd like to get copies for here at work. Being a shop still not even 3 years old, we were skipped over for most of the info on the older models. I have 123 126 and 201 but would like to accumulate everything else on the comp here as well for reference. The shop wont buy them.

How about a temporary upload to a site for a day or so? just enough to copy them off?

I only have 126 and maybe 123 if I can find it in my completely unorganized 4TB storage drive... (Never owned a 123... just happen to have the manual downloaded.)

The W116 factory manual is still available on W116.org.

The 300SD engine (OM617.950) in the W116 chassis is virtually identical to the OM617.951 and OM617.952 used in the later 300SDs and 300Ds. There are a lot of other similarities in W116 suspension and brakes etc as well.
