ScanGuage ScanGaugeII ? OBDII interface, Scan tool, digital gauges, trip computer
http://www.scangauge.com/
This won't work with the old diesels but maybe with the newer ones. It is mostly for gassers since 1996. Any experience with ScanGuageII? It sells for $169 and looks like you get a lot for your money. It doesn't work with 2001-2003 Mercedes for some reason but it seems to work with most other vehicles since 1996 when OBDII became the standard. It works with some 1994-1995 vehicles also. There are lists on their website to show compatibilities and incompatibilities. This is not a replacement for professional level scanners. I didn't see any mention of codes for transmissions, ABS, climate control, etc. You can download the manual from their website in PDF form. Last edited by TwitchKitty; 07-28-2006 at 09:27 AM. |

Bumping this to the top for one more run, wondered if another forum would be a better place for this. I am seriously thinking of ordering one of these and would like to hear some feedback if anyone knows anything about this.

No experience with the ScanGaugeII - I bought a reader on this website:
http://multiplex-engineering.com/products.htm and am using some free software downloaded here: http://www.guentchev.com/OBD-II/ Works pretty well for $82. I am a software engineer so maybe I'll get around programming an interface someday...

Thanks, cool links. I want a PC based OBDII scanner like that also. If you have never messed around with the RS-232 serial interface much, check out a breakout box and a loopback connector to troubleshoot this connection.
The ScanGuage just displays data from the sensors, you could write it. Maybe Guentchev will hit the lottery and hire you. |
