CCU removal procedure 300sd 83

OK, tell me it ain't so .... I need to remove the climate control unit for repair in my 126 chassis '83 300sd

If I had a 300d it looks like the wood trim panel around the CCU just snaps off BUT, 'cause I have a 300sd, I found a posting that says I have to remove the radio, then remove two screws on the bottom of the wood trim before it'll pop off.

Is this correct
