I guess the 2.5 liter engine grew up to be a famous 3 liter engine.

Is this some Euro gray market car. I mean bumpers alone make it different. It's pretty and all but also kind of odd. Lots of marked differences (motor compartment) from US that I can see from pictures. Some odd looking thing on drivers wheel well where cruise would normally be. Just lots of stuff that's different. I'm sure Euro specialists will chime in.

I'm no Euro specialist but I know the W116 SD was a US or North America only model.

They didn't mention whether or not the AC servo functions properly. It might be just stuck to AC. It also doesn't say that the vaccum locks actually work.

That breather hose does look like a plastic bag wrapped in string.

If I recall correctly it hasn't been registered in 5 years. Yellow is 2001. That's questionable.

Huh?

Ever heard of a pawn shop/car dealer/loan suppliers?
Well that's what these guys are...nothing wrong with that as long as I am getting a decent car.

Fellas think this is worth 3K?
I am in NJ and will fly out to drive her back if I buy her....I do not mind the driving as it is 'vacation' for me....Nothing like driving cross country alone to put things in perspective.

I don't think it's worth 3K unless it's throroughly inspected for compression, chain stretch etc. etc. and has a working AC servo. W116's aren't worth as much out here since they are too big to maneuver for most drivers.

I meant that the car hasn't been registered for 5 years which means it's been sitting for at least that long implying deferred maintenance.

VIN seems to be foreign. More signs pointing to gray market. Couldn't run a carfax on it.

Its a 1980 model!

Carfax only shows 1981 and newer. No W116 chassis will show carfax info because they had the old style VIN #'s.

Looks like a nice 300SD to me. If the body is rust free, the car is in good shape, and runs well its worth $3k in my book.

The Europeans never got the diesel S until much later. No such thing as a euro 300SD.
