Has anyone put a 3.0 block in a W140?

Lots of talk of this being better than the original 3.5 block but has anyone actually done it?

Thanks,
Sixto

An specialty shop here installed the 3.0 liter turbodiesel from a 1999 E 300 TD into an early 1997 S 350.

The car was imported from Europe recently and the 3.5 liter just died.

I saw the work, heard the engine run and it looked and sounded great. Did not have the chance to test drive though.

The tech I talked to said the swap was pretty straight-forward.

606 turbo would be nice. Will a 606 run with a 603 IP? I mean without all the tweaking those Finnish guys do.
