A 240D ambulance? In San Francisco? Something about that combination is absolutely laughable...you'd probably expire from your injuries or of old age before you arrived at the hospital.

I'll bet it was really a hearse. No one in thier right mind would make a 240d ambulance.

Not unless they also operated a funeral home.

Very true. "We're sorry, we didn't make it to the hospital in time....68hp in a 6000lb ambulance, our mistake."

Typical ambulances have some serious power, they pretty much all are Ford Powerstroke drivelines. 300+hp.

super sweet... that would make one classy ghost buster car...

i actually did want a hearse for some time, i almost had a 75 cadillac hearse, thing was a boat and i think it had the biggest engine avaliable at the time. what stopped me? the rising gas prices and the fact it got like 5 miles to the gallon.. but that would of made one nice ride... id love to show up to school with a nice clean hearse..(my school has a cemetary next to it) i wanted to even put a sub box in the back the same size and look of a casket!

That's original!

Sidebar...
Before the likes of EMS and StarFlight, here in Waterloo, Hyltin-Manor funeral home ran all the ambulances....the units were glossy maroon, early '60s Chevy panel trucks, and I swear they were souped-up and running glasspacs. When running flat out, you could hear easily their engines over their sirens and as far as a mile away!

I a few years ago when I worked in Hollywood I drove past a huge silver Cadillac Hearse and I thought to myself who would be driving such a thing around a very urban area. As I drove by, it was a very tall and attractive brunette woman with several pieces of framed artwork in the back
