oil puddle, cracked oil housing?
i got under the car and traced my oil leak and it seems to be coming from directly underneath the filter housing, the part where it angles over to the block. i think i found a small crack in this thing. i'm guessing it was already there because that's where i had a very small drip before. but it seems i pressurized the system since i inadvertently over filled the oil and might have made it worse. what is this part?? is this something i can jb weld (ha!)? have i just cost myself alot of money??

Pull it off, clean it up real good, buy a new gasket from the dealer (~$1.80 or so) reinstall with some gasket sealer and see what happens. Then again when you get it off and can see daylight through it..... JB away!! If that works you saved some money,

you didnt do anything to it.
so quit thrashing yourself! as noted above, not too difficult to fix, probably. usually a gasket will do it. tom w

If you end up having to replace it I would find on from a junkyard. You don't hear about the oil filter housings going bad very often, so I bent you could find one pretty easy.
Also get underneath and clean everything off in the area, and drive the car a bit, then see if you can see exactly where the oil is comming from. This may tell you if the crack is leaking or if the gasket is. It's pretty common for the gaskets to go on these cars, mine leaks!
