Never seen anyone have starting bid and buy it now at the same exact figure. I mean, what's the point of bidding? So it bids to $1000, then someone should have clicked Buy It Now...
But no, I don't feel that 190D is worth that much... |

It's not too far away from you, and maybe it could be repaired cheaply, then it might work for you, the feedback is 100%, it looks a little too good to part out.
What's your comfort level with this-to some extent it is definately a gamble, it's definately as is-where is. Seeing as it's a first year (1984) W201 diesel, it would be probably a bigger risk than an equivalent 123 diesel, I would think. You could probably flip it or part it out if you couldn't get it to run.

My fleet takes great offense!! It was only the first year for the OM601 in the US. The '84's are just fine, please see my mileages below...... Klaus

too much
That is too much money for a parts car. Well running examples are going for not much more on ebay. It seems most feel that 500 is tops for a parts car unless there are extenuating circumstances (ie good cosmetics, no rust, recent major engine, trans rebuild). They are very nice cars. Just as simple to work on as a 240D. Slicker shifting transmission and peppier due to lighter weight. I think they are very nice looking vehicles, nicely proportioned and solid feeling. Interior is cheaper than the classic 123 models. A near perfect commuter car due to mileage, handling and safety. I wish mercedes sold a similar model today.
