OT ... diesel Suburbans ... part out? Sell? Junk?
Sorry this is not MB-related, but I know there are a few folks in here who know about diesel Suburbans and might be able to advise me. I have two 80s Suburbans in very lousy condition at my dad's shop. One is a 1983 Chevy and the other a 1987 (86?) GMC. One has been sitting for about ten years, the other for six or seven. I believe the GMC was in running condition with a bad starter when it was left. However, both now are very rusty, esp. the older one, which I don't think ran at the time it was parked. My sister and her fiance want to sell them for scrap, just to get rid of them. I was wondering, though, if I might make more money by parting them out or selling them for parts. Is there any market for parts cars in these particular models? I couldn't find much on Ebay to get an idea, but I wasn't sure if that's because nobody wants them or nobody has them to sell. What parts might be salvagable, and sellable, to make it worthwhile? Or is it better to just pay someone to haul 'em off and scrap 'em?
