Question Sunroof motor removal

I know I've seen this somewhere, but for the life of me today can't find it...Need to remove the sunroof motor from the old 81 SD I'm parting out. Is there an easy way to get it out without destroying the cable??

I know that on a 123 that the motor is in the trunk, on the left upper, inside, above the trunk side of the wheelwell. Remove the left trunk plastic. It should be under that.

You should put you vehicle year and model in your signature.

I think you have to remove the cable from the front before you can get it out of there. Not much of a market for those motors though. I tried selling one on ebay last week. No bids at the $25 price.

The motor can be removed without touching the gearbox/cable. It's got a little rubber "driveshaft" that connects the motor to the gearbox. At least, on mine.

You are correct. I was thinking he wanted to pull the motor/gearbox as a unit.
