I assume they were an option on something, but I have no idea what model(s).

The 15 inch bundt wheels came on the 450SEL 6.9. Very rare and expensive. As far as I know, 123's never had 13's. 200D's and other fintails had 13's.

I 've run across three different rims on W123s. All 14"
1) alloys or "bundt"
2) steel
3) Aluminum, which look just like the steel rims (except for four dabs of white paint) but are of course much lighter. I actually thought I could feel the difference when I put them on my "79" .

you can definately tell the difference with the type three wheels on a 240. they give the sweetest ride and handling.

when i had kids driving my 240s i always made sure there were steel wheels on the front wheels in the winter as curbing one in a slide will bend the aluminum ones very quickly.

and they are kindof rare.

lots of folks dont even know they exist. folks who should know!

Interesting...So were they a special order?

I just scavenged them of my various parts cars. They are replaced with steel ones with studded tires for winter.

i think maybe they were only put on 83 models. i have never seen anything in any books about them though. i just know from personal expereince. i remember the first time i noticed. they were very light and when i scratched it the aluminum color is noticalby different than steel. i think i even went and got a magnet to check for sure.

they give the sweetest ride and handling on a 240 for sure! less unsprung weight is always good.

Humm, I cant say for sure but I think the parts car I took them off was an 82. I'll have to investigate further since I just bought a 82 that burned up (interior). I'd like a set on my Euro 85. Right, You don't hear much about them but I do remember, some time back, a forum member "Rick", I think, mentioning that he put a set on and could tell the difference.
