1985 Kickdown
What's the secret of the 1985 kickdown system? My kickdown switch doesn't do anything. I've replaced the switch which has had no affect. I'm wondering if because this has the one year only transmission that there may be more involved. Is there any truth to that?

My 1985 300D Turbo kicks down. As far as I know, it's normal for a 1985. However, it's the only one I've ever driven enough to explore that part of the operation so I have no comparison.

Check to see if the switch is just unplugged. I found mine was right after I bought it. A 300CD. Hard to see that it wasn't plugged in because some yahoo tucked the wire up on top of the trans. Had to jack the car way up and look real good for the wire the plug in.

The kickdown switch on my 1982 300sd dosen't work either. There is a wire hanging down right at the bottom of the trans that is disconnected. Would this likely be the wire being mentioned here and if so where does it connect to?
