Talking MPG wow what a blast

Well I have been checking how many kilometres per tank full I get...
Three times this past month I filled it right up and Im gettin 845 km per tank or 525 miles per tank full. This is city and highway driving 50/50.Is this a blast or what!
I fill it up when the warning light comes on.
Anyone else get some good miles per gallon?

I get from ABSOLUTELY full, to light in about 930-950 kilometers, that's a 10 minute highway jaunt twice daily and approximately 2 hours a day of driving around, mostly with my foot in it. yeah, it is awesome, when I fill up at the pump and the Gasoline pump next to me costs more, I kind of chuckle if there's someone pumping Gas

Where are you? Here (Sac CA) Gas is still 30 cents a gallon cheaper for Premium.

Last 3 tanks, averaged 31.5 +/- 0.2 MPG each tank. Last tank, filled up when it hit R (still haven't seen the light yet), took 14.5 gallons after 460 miles. EGR and ARV are still functional. Wonder what it would get with the BB treatment?

G'mornin',
I have gone just over 425 miles before filling up, and have never seen the little reserve light come on.....added just over 15 gallons.....that was on a 400 mile road trip to a NASCAR race 3 weeks ago....65-80 mph Interstate driving. That is roughly 28 MPG....did not do an exact measurement.

Because I don't ever want to run the Injection Pump dry, I began to wonder what the tank capacity is...looked it up....should be 80 liters total with 11.5 liters in Reserve.....or about 21 Gallons Total with about 2.5 Gallons reserve...the above applies to 300D's bult after 02/83......all USA...Federal and Califunya

Therefore, at an approximate 28mpg, with a tank capacity of 20 Gallons I should be able to refuel at 550 miles and still have a couple of gallons in the tank.....I don't push this, because I live about 20 miles from the closest "on road" or "highway" Diesel pump.....

So......I was wondering why you only get 350 miles per tankful assuming that the only difference between our cars is the Califunya Emissions Package???

I'm recording my fuel consumption on my 81 stick 240D meticulously and over the last five refills it's settled down nicely to around 31 mpg. 50/50 town and freeway up to 70mph. The last five refills have been as follows...

29.6mpg, 31,5mpg, 31,2mpg, 31,8mpg and 30,6mpg. The last was with a couple of Italian tuneups to 80mph for about 30 miles on the freeway.

I think talking about miles per tank is meaningless since the size of the tank varies from car to car. My Jetta only gets about 450 miles per tank, but who cares? It gets over 40 mpg and that's what really matters.

how about us with the bad odometers?

WE ONLY CAN GO BY GALLONS PER WEEK...
first fill up on the TD today. since I will not be driving it much until I fix the alternator and brakes, I may go two or three weeks between fillups...

Well the most I ever get is 25 mpg on 100% highway. Right now I have dragging rear caliper(s) (can hear them ). I have done valve adjustment but haven't figured out how to time the IP. Injector nozzels are original I believe. But it starts with barely a turn of the key and idles smootly so I dont really complain.

I'm getting around 600 miles per tank, averaging 28 to 31 MPG. But then again, I've been running B100 all summer. Granted, most of my driving could be considered highway, but it does include running the A/C and driving 70+

The more I drive this car, the more I like it......except for the crappy seats

Oh, it's an 87 300SDL

By my way of thinking, even at 25 MPG with a 20 gallon tank you should be able to run some 500 miles before needing to fill up......

If I were you, I would not concern myself with the timing of the fuel pump....I would leave that to a Bosch Tech at an Injection Calibration Shop

As far as those rear calipers go...that is a cheap and easy item to repair....will make life quieter and safer as well.....
