Now What - 84 300SD Tranny leak

I drained and refilled my tranny, went to great pains to make sure I torqued everything to specs, I have no leaking from the pan( a miracle ) and the drain plug is clear, however I do seem to have a leak, I think , somewhere. I did drain the torque convertor and it may just be the fluid that went everywhere, but I am stressing that it may be the torque convertor plug, which I did not find torque specs for, or could I have disrupted some seal that was being "sealed" by dirty fluid - gotta love these old cars. Any thoughts appreciated

Thread locker

I had trouble with pan leaks until I used thread locker on the bolts.

(Now I just have a cooling line banjo bolt that wants to leak. )

I had a leak that was just as you describe.... and it turned out to be a torque conv. drain bolt that had a hairline crack. It drove me nuts....

You know, the exact same thing happened to me last year, changed fluid, trained pan, torque C, etc. and immediate leak . . . could not source so I added some Trans X (whole can) adjusted trans level, and no more leaks after a few days and has been great ever since. I will do a flush soon and this time will automatically add trans x to swell/condition seals, it also keeps varnish down, etc. Try this first, your situation sound suspiciously too much like mine . ..

A friend of mine bought an '82 300D and tranny fluid was ever so slightly dripping down from the torque converter. Only a drop or two overnight. He looked at it but really didn't know what to look for so I got under there and checked the torque converter drain plug but it was fine. That's been about a month ago and he called me yesterday and said he'd added some Trans X and it fixed the problem.
