The W124 five-link rear suspension is very similar, if not identical to, the 210, 202, 203, 208, and a few others as well. The subframe, sway bars, etc are different but most of the five links are the same.

Other than the rear suspension NO, the 124 and 210 are totally different animals and share almost no parts.

The W210 should be a little nicer, the front suspension is different... however the 210 is also known for various quality & reliability issues. I generally prefer the 124 myself but I like the look of the 210.

Hi

For me the 124 has a far superior ride than the 210, although my 210 is Avantgarde with 18" Amg's which might spoil the ride to a degree.

The ride is the same.

A little more tire noise in the W210 (ContiTouring Contacts on each car), but the W210 seems to corner better with less roll. The steering can be a little numb however, and doesn't seem to provide the feedback of a W124 at higher speeds (in excess of 100 mph). Its a bit of a challenge to point it in the direction you want it to go every split second on an uneven surface.

They're both nice cars. The 210 is somewhat in a league of its own for space however, considering how much better the interior is carved out. The 124 is really cramped!

Oh yeah.

The transmission takes a bit of time to get used to in the 210. The 722.6x is not as communicative as the late 722.3x. For instance, the upshifts lag by about a second each so if you are WOT to 45 mph,and then let off gradually or not, it takes a good 3 - 4 seconds before you are finally in top gear.
