From Diesel to no Diesel and back to another diesel

I sold my 1984 300SD on eBay this weekend. I was really bummed about getting rid of it, but was trying to consolidate my vehicle collection. I was on my way to the Saab dealer when I saw a 1996 E300D sitting in front of the Toyota dealership. I was only without a Mercedes diesel for 3 days!

The difference between the 300SD and the E300D is amazing. You cannot hear the OM603 idling. Nice car - I think I like it!

Well, you see that makes the 98-99 E300 a 96-977 E300 on steroids.

Seriously.... enjoy the ride.

It's been interesting here, listening to the guys with the 20 year old cars saying how great they are...... not to start a war, but everyone needs to try something newer. I personally think the 98-99 E300's are a pretty nice ride. Those with E320CDIs probably think that the E300's are sleds.

LOL, I'm going to buy a 140. Just can't decide if I should go with a 600 for the extra toys. Obviously I'm not scared to fix things...

LOL, gotta love the lack of commute as well as the associated crap in the corporate realm. Been there, done that!

You might remember where gas station gets its name Lots of M119s going strong with over 200K miles. Between JimF's website and that V12 uber alles site there's enough info to keep a W140 in the DIY realm.

That was one beautiful 300SD you sold, I'd have never been able to do it, even to mine, which doesn't look remotely that good. I'd only be able to add diesels....not sell them... Once I have more available funds someday, this could turn into a serious problem.....

And on goes my dream of owning a 600SEL someday. I'd not be suprised at all if the V12's last well over 300k and probably past 500k if driven "normally" most of the time....think of how little work/strain that engine has on it in day to day driving....its yawning 99% of the time, all the horses get impatient.

I've done some work on an S500, mech under the hood. Fairly simple to do, motor mounts were a bit of a pain but all seemed to go together fine. TONS of stuff to test out/remove prior to being able to repair the actual issue at hand.
