K-1 kit tomorrow. Any advice?
Well I finally got my K-1 kit for my transmission and am going to put it in tomorrow. Anyone got any advice on how to do this? I've read old posts and it seems pretty straight forward. Hope so. I also plan on putting in new rear shocks too. Should I take pictures for everyone?
On another note I put in a new stereo and speakers in my 300SD and it sounds great. Pioneer everything, new spearker wire, 6x4s up front and 6x9s in the rear deck. I was hesitant to put in the head unit because I didn't want something with a lot of "flashy" lights, but I must say it looks good in the dash. Anybody want the model numbers or anything if you need a new system?

My symptom was the 2-3 flare. It had gotten to where while driving through the neighborhood at 25mph, when the 2-3 shift came along it would spike to 3100rpm. It had been this way since I got the car in March, and it only does it when cold.So since winter is coming up I decided why not, and just do it.
The whole sound system installation was a breeze. The hardest part was getting the rear shelf in the car after I had put in the 6x9s, sound insullation, and some high density particle board. The harness that came with the head unit (Pioneer DEH-P5800M $199.99 from BestBuy) was just wires (idiot proof lables of course) that I soldered together with the wires in the car. It took all of 30 minutes. Then I ran the speaker wires through the dash to the front speakers and through the dash towards the drivers side, and I ran the wires under the door sill plates and up to the rear deck. Cannot even seen them or tell they have been put there.

K1 spring kit installation pictures
I did the fluid/filter/K1 a few weekends ago on my 1983 300D turbo and took many pictures. I've been putting off posting this because I haven't had time to redo my main web page with a place for links to stuff like this, so you have to follow the link below to get to it as there's no way to find it otherwise. However, since folks are asking...
http://www.hevanet.com/patbob/MercedesK1SpringKit/SpringKitInstall.html My apologies for a few things.. its about 2MB and I didn't get to doing thumbnails to make it load faster. Also, there's some irrelevant verbage and pictures. I was documenting it as much for others as for myself for next time I do the fluid/filter change -- both how to do it and how not to do it next time. It's a pretty easy job all in all . Incidently, it didn't seem to help with my 2-3 flare, but after the subsequent bowden and EGR vacuum leak fix, the flare is pretty much gone. Maybe the K1 was part of that fix, maybe it was just bowden and vacuum leak, I'm not putting the old one back in just to find out. Hope this helps.
