Dang it saddens me to reconnoitre that matching engine rpm to driveshaft speed and walkin the tranny through shifts, say especially while floating straight-cut gears of trucks'n operating tractors in general has become a lost art.

But then evolution of automobiles points to deliberately removing the driver from the driving experience, dont it?

LOL...I think when the engineers in the father land were designing these cars and trying to improve them they were looking at a market beyond crusty ol, gear jammen truck drivers. We're lucky to have a fairly heavy and solid diesel car available with a manual tranny. Lots of manual, light weight, rice burners out there tho.

When I was in high school I had a "53"Oldsmobile "Rocket 88" with a 3 spd, manual tranny, the 240s kinda remind me of that car except for the HP

I wonder if that short piece of linkage in back of the IP could be subsituted for the little shock.

Did not get the chance to look at it today. Will scope it tomorrow. I replaced those rubber vacuum lines on the part that was mentioned a message or two ago but maybe it's time to remove that plastic cover again and visually inspect. Will report back.
